How our valuations work

Points and miles have no fixed dollar value: the same balance can be worth more or less depending on how you redeem it. For each program we track the main redemption options (cash, travel portal bookings, transfers to airline and hotel partners) and assign each a cents-per-point estimate based on the program's own published redemption rates and widely cited independent valuations. Where a redemption rate is set by the program itself (such as a fixed cash-back rate), we use that exact figure. Where value depends on how you redeem (such as transfer partners), our estimate is an average; your own results will vary with the specific flights or hotels you book.

Each calculator notes which redemption type its estimate assumes and the rate applied, so the math is fully transparent: points multiplied by the cents-per-point rate.
